So I bought my first pair of discus. The lady told me they paired off already but haven't bred yet. I have had tjem a week and came home and there were eggs .
Couple quick questions.brown ones are fertilized right ? Remove the white ones ?
I know I need to keep them with the parents how long after can I remove them ?
And I was doing wc 's every other day . Should I up it to daily ?

Thanks a lot

Congrats! The pair should clean off the white eggs as they tend to them, I wouldn't try to remove them at this point.

The fertilized eggs should hatch into wigglers in 72 hours, never removed the parents as once the wigglers go free swimming they need to feed on the slimecoat for the first week before moving onto live baby brine shrimp.

This is the first step of many....you might want to do your research or go on SimplyDiscus forum for much more information.

Good luck :)

Yeah man, congrats! Just be prepared, raising fry is a challenge. And dont get discouraged if it takes the pair a couple of tries to get the fry to a couple of weeks old...........

Ya they ate the last batch . I was watching the fish and i think freaked them out and they started eating the eggs in front of me . Then stopped and the next day they were all gone .

Got home today and they laid another batch. Going to go to lowes tom and try and get some gutter guard and see if i can get wrigglers this time

Looks like another botched attempt . Got home tonight prob half the eggs are white

how strong is your current? im thinking like most people youre over filtering and the current is making it a problem for the male to fert the eggs

It's a 30g with a big sponge filter . I don't think there is a lot of current in the tank.

Anyways they laid again when I was at work so here's to try number three
