I always hear about people breeding bonded pairs in 20s, (talls obviously), but has anyone here seen or done it? Is it a viable thing to do? One part of me thinks having a pair of discus in a 20 aesthetically would be pretty neat but the other thinks if I were to go bare minimum for a pair I'd still go with a 29.

I had breeding pairs in both 30g (long) and 40 breeders. Those are both 3 foot long tanks. 29g is used by a lot of breeders.
Just my thoughts- A 20g (tall) may be ok, but it better be a well established ('experienced') pair, or it could lead to too much aggression. The other risk is that it needs to be in the right location because if they get spooked (happens with some frequency), they can get badly hurt.
A question- Why push it?
Good luck!
