Hi everyone im kinda curious on what everyone would think of my discus diet. First I have 5 discus in a 75 gallon.in the morning i give them hikari discus bio gold pellets. Then when I get off from work I give omega one cichlid flakes and 2 cubes of frozen food which i change it up everyday between bloodworms, spirulina brine shrimp, beefheart, krill, mysis shrimp , and daphnia. Anyone think I should add or remove anything from their diet?also I do a 20 gallon water change every week is that enough or should I do more?

good diet. i'd up the w/c to 50% weekly

Looks good. I would add maybe some veggie flakes. They do need some greens in their diet. Mine will eat dry algae.

Once my discus get to 4-5" I keep them on straight flake. It's cheaper and cuts down on my water changes...............

WC is good, i would up it a little more. 5" discus still have room for growth. I have 12 discus in my 120 ranging from 3-6". I do a Biweekly WC of about 95%. I use a flushing system so its a little less accurate in the percentage of water moved.

As far as Diet goes, i use nothing but Bill's flake food from inland empire discus. Its the best stuff i've ever used. I have not had any problems with my discus for a year sense using this food (and i used to have a TON of problems when i first started). Im telling you its the best food for your money and you still get a lot of growth with it. (its made of beef heart, vitamins, fiber, nutrients, and more). Contact him and he'll give you the break down, loaded with the beef natural ingredients.

I use actual ground beefheart, shrimp, salmon, cod, spirulina flakes, spinach and vitamin all mixed together. Fish love it and they also get FBW's and frozen Mysis shrimp 2-3 times a week. Just have to make sure you keep tank clean and remove excess when heavy feeding of fresh food.
