I have recently added 3 discus to a 55 gal . one was quite old and the rest where young . A weak passed and i realised that one of the young ones the less shy one was constantly pecking at the other young one one so i moved her to a 20 gal with guppies . this is the strangest part one of the guppies a big female is attacking the discus .

please help

Never kept discus but ive done lots of homework because I plan on getting some in the near future. Besides clean water, everything I read said they must be kept in a school of atleast 6. I dont think 6 adults would be comfortable in a 55g though

Discus will always create a pecking order. It's recommend to get 5 or more in case they pair up. That helps spread out the aggression. What you're seeing is normal. 55 g is plenty of space for 3 discus. As far as the guppies, they breed so often, the female might just trying to protect the fry. Give it time. The discus will grow and dominate the aquarium.
