my cuzin is gonna give me his tank when he moves his flower horn and i was thinking what was the height requerment for two discus?? the tank is 36"x16"x15"
Discus for a 42 gal??

I've kept a mated pair in a 37gal. before, for almost a year, until I moved them to a 125gal. with other discus. In my experience, discus do much better in groups of their own kind.
That tank is too shallow to house discus, need to be at least 20" in height. As HB said discus do best in groups and that tank would eventually be too small for a group. The demensions you gave for that tank make it only about 36 gallons.
