Not sure what has developed. One out of 15 has some splotchy white spots almost cloudy like in the capillaries of its tail fin.

can anyone venture a guess?

will provide test info shortly but as of 9/9 it was pH 6.6 AM/NI/NA = 0 temp at 86

can not take good pics - doesn't come out too clearly, it's too light.

thx

2nd one has one splotch in it's dorsal fin & a 3rd has a splotch in its caudal fin - same area in the capillary part of the finnage.

I know w/o pics hard to tell. but if you can imagine when a dot made by an over-inked pen on paper smears, best I can describe it.

so hope someone can make a diagnosis.

Sushi, how did you get zero nitrate? What test kit are you using? Is the tank heavily planted? Did you just do a large water change before testing?

strange right? API master kit shook for more than a minute & checked out 5min. later.

my readings since june discus tank set up
AC110 + fluval 204 + sponge filter
then switched 2wks ago
2 AC110 + sponge filter

6/28 NA=0
up to 7/19 = 5
thereafter till 9/05 = 0
today 9/17 = 2.5 (between 0 - 5)

bare bottom, no plants, always test b-4 w/c to see how good or bad I am doing. re-fill direct from tap & Prime.

on other hand, my 20gal angel tank only has 3bamboo shoots & 1/4 with thin layer of gravel & AC70 (b-4 switch was using AC110)

6/28 NA=80
7/03 - 9/06 = 40

Ahh..How often is the water change and how much water is replaced? Not strange if your tank was heavily planted or gets plenty of water changes.:)

at least every other day, if not daily. not planted at all. w/c is 20-30% every other day & once a week it's 75%.
