i got a discus from mu brother it seems to be dying its lost it's coloration and looks mal nourished and its fins are kinda messed up is there any way to bring it back from the grave

Try keeping them in a separate tank for week.Do water 50%changes every day and maintain the temperature at 28'c.Feed less for a week till they get better. These are basic methods to get the fish out off stress. i feel due do change in place is the reason but if they carry any infection on them its a different ball game. try to upload the pic

Treat with some melafix try to keep it from getting stressed. Be careful when doing water changes everyday its not good it can cause stress even more and unbalaced water.

Melafix is glorified tea tree oil. Might make a decent shampoo but IMO pretty useless as a medication. You will do more harm throwing medications at a fish when you do not know what exactly is wrong with it. Very hard to make a diagnosis without a picture of the fish in question, water parameters, tank size and other inhabitants, etc.
As a general rule discus should always be kept in a shoal and never by themselves

Discus can be very hard to keep, they are very sensitive to the water they live in mainly the Salinity level of the water. Freshwater fish drink little to no water they obtain the water they need thru Osmosis (they obsorb the water they need thru there body). If the Salinity of the water is higher than there body the fish will not get the water it needs to survive this is called Osmotic Stress, symptoms are loss of color and will quit eating , may dart, fins will begin to look frayed. (hard to reverse depending on how advanced the cell destruction is within the fish).
Water parametors for Discus is Acidic, softwater ( lower carbonate and bicarbonate within the water).
A second reason for this with Discus is that the fish was suddenly frightened will show basicly the same symptoms, will hide and stop eating.
Hard to say without seeing the fish and what the water parametors are , pH and the TDS level (gh & kh) and what types of fish are being housed with the discus.

Try seperating it from the other fish with a thin piece of plexi glass...it sounds crazy but it works. It always will get food and it will have time to heal...ecspecially if you give it some medicine.

Don't medicate fish unless you know what's wrong with them. Throwing antibiotics at them is what screwed a lot of fish that come from South East Asia up. Their immune system can't handle ordinary aquarium condition. Some medications can cause infertility in fish.
If you get the basics right discus are just as easy if not easier to keep than a lot of tropicals. What fish would you consider more fragile, a discus or a neon. No neon can starve for some weeks whereas a discus can.

While I don't agree with the fact that discus are easy to keep. They are a lot more sensitive to water conditions than a neon. apisto is correct, unless you know what to treat don't. Discus do very badly by themselves a solo discus with very few exceptions (I've seen one happy one discus tank) will slowly fade away. The easiest solution would be to get more discus before you do that have your water tested. Your water may not be compatible with discus.

its a bit to late the discus died the same day. i seperated it it never ate and i couldnt get meds to him in time. it was horrible way to start my discus/rams tank i now have two new ones i think one is stunted but he is still cool i am planing on getting more, i know they are schooling fish but i can only really buy one at a time im broke
