What is the cheapest discus you've ever got and would i have to get rid of my Oscar to put them in that (35 g) tank hes in with fish that he could definatly eat? Cause no way then.

First 35gallons isn't enough for an Oscar. Second in that amount of space for sure no way... Third you can get them fairly cheap and ugly if you get them bite size for an oscar, but then you have to grow them and you don't know what they will really look like till they are older.

Anyways I am going to say that a Discus for you at this point would be a bad idea. Do some research... (Learn about that Oscar and what he needs to be happy first...)

I agree. It's unlikely that an Oscar will live longer than a few months in that tank. If you want that Oscar to reach adulthood, you better start looking for a bigger tank right away. You do know they grow out at about 12" don't you? I saw 55gal. tanks with tops and lights at Petstupid, er, I mean, Petsmart, a few weeks ago for $110. Not a bad price at all. An Oscar would be fine in that, if you kept it alone.

Sorry i forgot its bigger than that just don't know the exact size. I got it as a 30 but its way bigger than that. The O is content for now and i dont have enough money or permission for that tank. I hate Petsmart too.

He was in a 20 g for almost a year (I regret it) before I got this tank. I didnt have any thing else.

3 posts sorry. can i keep 1 discus with 2 angels?(In a seperate tank than the Oscar.)

Discus need to be kept in groups. 4-6 is a good starting number, and alone is usually a bad idea.

Thanks. For anyone who is distressed by my first post: My fish always turn out as hobbits. Example: my 6 in. O stopped growing and my 2 in. O stopped also. Maybe i should switch this to the south american cichlids section.

The reason they stop growing is because they are living in too small a tank... There life span is going to be cut drastically short, and likely if a O is stopping at 2 in. you have more than just a small tank as being your problem...

No offense, but I'm not surprised at all that your O's don't reach full size. Smaller tanks are not sufficient for larger growing fish. :grinno:
