I have a 75 gallon with 6 discus in it and two of my discus are not eating. This has been going on for about a week now and I am starting to get a little concerned. I had two other discus that just died recently to the same cause and I feel that I need to do something. The two discus that are not eating are two of the bigger ones in my tank. The other four are doing very well and eating all sorts of food I put in the tank without hesitating. I had two discius in the tank for about 2 months because I didnt have enough money at the time to get more (i know they are schooling fish) and I got my new ones about 5 months ago. The discus seem to chase eachother around the tank quite frequently, but not over the food. The two original discus swim around the tank and dont usually pay attention to the other discus. Could this be a territory problem? the new discus seem to be intimidated by the two original discus. The two discus also seem to have much brighter colors then the new discus, which are darker and paler then the two old ones.the original discus were in there for quite a while wothout any other discus in there. I would sure hate to see these beautiful fish die to something stupid. Knowing me it is something so obvious that I am just looking over.

terriorty, domanintc, and stress is what I think of. plus I QT any discus or angelfish before putting them in to the main tank.might of brought something in with the new discus, did you get them from a pet store or breeder. when it comes to angelfish and discus i always go to other angelfish/discus hobbies and breeders.

if the new discus are turning dark(blueish/blackish then they are stressed) might have internal paristites. sick question but what color is the poop?

Hey fishyjoe. I bought the fish from a pet store, not a breeder. He has really nice discus which I believe he buys from breeders. One of my discus is a darker color and changes his color from a dark brown to a lighter brown pretty often, but my other discus that is not eating is a bright orange that does not change its colors at all. He is not active at all and swims very slowly around my tank and sometimes just stays in the same spot for a long time. When i put food in the tank (usually bloodworms or tetra color pellets) he swims to the food as if he wants to eat but he dosent. As for the poop I will have to get back to you with that.
