I have 2 Red Melon Discus around 5 inches that have stopped eating. It’s been going on now for about 3 weeks now. I can see them starting to get skinny. One of them is starting to breathe a little heavy. They were in a 90 gallon with 7 other Discus that range in size 4 to 6 inches. That tank has 2 AC110s and an FX5 canister filtering it. Tank also has about an inch of gravel. I change water 50% two times a week. I put them in a 55 gallon tank a week ago by themselves, and raised their temperature of the water to 92 degrees. That tank has a bare bottom tank with 2 AC110 filtering it. Wondering if there is some medicine or epson salt I can give them?

Would reduce the tank temp back down to normal range for discus. I forget if discus have specific care requirements. Would dose some prazipro and metronidazole in the tank. Add some Epsom salt 1 tbsp per 5g. Feed some hex shield. Separate for now and monitor. What does the poop look like? Wild fish?

Thanks for the reply. I have separated them. They’re in a 55 gallon with 2 others that might have the same problem. So now there’s 4 Discus in a 55 gallon by themselves. I just changed water and treated with metro and prazi. From everything I’ve read raising temperature is very helpful also. Instructions on meds say do every 48 hours. So tomorrow I’ll treat tank with Epson Salt.

Be cautious. Certain bacteria and fungus will thrive at higher temps esp seen in cichlids.
