ok so the tank is the 5ft 120g in my thread, i am wanting to do a complete revamp of the tank keeping only the 4 geophagus surinamensis (still very small with the largest being around 3in) and delhezi. i was thinking about going way out and doing a paludarium, making it somewhat of an amazon biotope (except for the del of course haha) and adding maybe 6 discus. if i went with the paludarium type set up i would keep at least 16in of water giving me at least 75g of water volume for the fish (i know this is very low for the bio-mass but i would keep a close eye on it) or do you think that this stock would have way to much waste to keep up with in 75g of water? i have these fish and several other cichlids i am growing out (with the largest being my 6-7in arg and dont have any problems so i would think that discus would create less waste than these fat guys (had a turtle hatchling in with them so the water level was lower but i have since rehomed him in anticipation of switching this tank to discus) i could also up the water level a bit but i want to put in a water fall feature so would want enough space to make a nice size one (forgive the very crude Paint drawing lol i am definitely NOT an artist haha) anyways my main question was what are your guys thoughts on doing a discus tank this way and do any of you have larger paludarium set ups like this with discus? should i do less than 6?
