Discus problem

I have a large tangerine male discus that had severe bloat. I treated him for the bloat and put him in a hospital tank to do so. Now he has a lesion on his side. Any ideas what it's from? I don't know what type of meds I should get.

Thanks for giving us so much detailed info such as water parameters, age/size of fish, length of time with ailment, etc so we could respond with a diagnosis.

Btw you could have cured it with Epsom salt.

Sounds more like dropsy. Epsom salt wouldn't have helped only made it worse. You've got to go after the bacteria with a broad spectrum antibiotic.

ditto! we all suffer a little stress when our fish are stressed. but next time give MFK'ers the chance to give you good feedback if you give them enough info (water testing, any changes to the environment, where did you buy it from, other tank mates, freq. of W/C, etc.) & some lead time. this could not have happened overnite.

so we all can learn from each others mishaps - there are many who are more than willing to help us - if we let them & we don't have an attitude.

Oh, I just checked - you're a long time member & poster. excuse me for preaching from a newbie to this forum, thought you were a newbie - but we can still learn from each other no matter how long we've been in it - together!
