Guys, if one wants to keep discus but sometimes needs to go on trips for at most 2 weeks, is it okay? Whay should one do? If there is no one to do any WC for around 2 weeks? Is discus keeping suitable for that person?

All depends. How often does one have to go away? Is there anyone that can feed them while your gone? Are these adult fish in a large tank? Are these juvis? Does the tank have a low bioload with plenty of bio-capacity to process waste. Lots of variables. It's possible under the right conditions. More specifics would yield a better answer.

The tank is 165 gallons. The fish that are gonna go inside are 30 cardinal tetraa and 15 lemon tetras. And the trips are usually once every 2 months... 3-4 days. Bit sometimes have to go for a 2 week holiday.

If juvis I would say no.

adult only and if the filter is good enough to hold for 2 weeks without water change then you can have an auto feeder set once a day for them.

My 150 gallon is well stocked with 10 discus (3 to 6 inches) along with 11 roseline barbs, 11 clown loaches, few cardinals, algae eaters & a large common pleco. My filtration is not elaborate...a hob emperor 400 & a magnum 350 canister.

Not recommended but I've gone over a month without a wc...nor clean the filters. You get caught up with life and can't make time but no problems with the fishes in my tank. I think what helps are the river rocks as substrate. The bacteria within the substrate helps filter the water. I started off with sand but the wastes & uneaten food just sits on top of the sand which was a mess.

They gotta eat so the auto feeder is the way to go if no one is there.

I have all adults in my 125g. I have successfully left them on numerous occasions for 10/12 days w/ no harm done. Yes there is a risk that something can go wrong (power outage etc.) These fish can survive better in a clean tank w/ no food than in a polluted tank w/ plenty. Last feeding 12hrs before back to back 90% WC's & cleaning 2 of 4 filters. Truthfully only in captivity do DISCUS get to eat 3-4 times a day everyday of the week. "T"
