i've been wondering what is perfect for breeding Discus i've researched on it and said to have bear bottom and no plants and im sitting here is that right. Also its said that you can boost it up to 82 then slowly bring it up 2 degrees until it reaches 88 thrn go back down and repeat and I know then they will be prone to ich so please tell me what is perfect cause im confused

no u want plants or structure for the babies to hide in 4 most fish

what is it ur trying to breed

The title says Discus  the point of this thread is to ask if the things i sadi where right for i researched the settings but of course I do know to have hiding and i've developed perfect designs for tanks.

I don't have any experience with discus breeding but if you are raising and lowering the temperature just do it very slowly, like 1 or 2 deg a day and they should acclimate fine. Also keeping the tank over 82 degrees will interrupt the life cycle of ICH anyhow, so that should be one less concern. The swings in temp are what get it going, not the gradual changes.

You need the plants and sand and hiding spots to make them feel safe. Try to find someone selling a pair. And move the fry to a bare bottom tank. Fry are rlly hard to care for

hmm to me I always thought that even if i have everything I would leave the fry with the parents but I know there is alternatives to it such transporting it to a diff tank but also have airstone it it.And Why do I need bare bottom to me it seems it stresses most fish.

the bare bottom tank thing is probably for breeding tanks, keeping the bottom bare makes it alot easier to clean up any waste that accumulates.

What you're reading probably assumes that after the breeding you are going to immediately remove the parents. In addition, ich is very rare at temperatures higher than 82.

IF YOU DONT KNOW ABOUT THE FISH DONT GIVE ADVICE ILL EXPLAIN BELOW.

Discus breeding isnt to hard a bare bottom is recommend for water quality control they need very clean water. For Discus its recommend 25-50% water changes everyday to every other day ATLEAST(especially FOR THE BABIES UP TO 1 YEAR). Bad water quality will severly stunt the growth of baby Discus. The tank can be 100% bare because both parents will take care of the young. The fry even need the parents because they feed off the mucous secretion that is produced by the parents for the first few days/weeks.

here is a good article for discus breeding
