Discus tank - tons of pictures

I got 8 discus shipped in (out of 12... 4 are still really shy and in another tank) exactly two weeks ago
2 adult checkerboard turquoise
4 leopards
2 cobalts

after a week of feeding only frozen blood worms, i finally weaned them onto beefheart flakes, growth flakes amongst other flakes, and tetra bits. i feed them around 3 -4 times a day.

the fish are out and about all the time and i'm so happy that they are doing well. i try and do around 15-20% daily water changes straight from the tap, and they appear to be doing great from it.

Nice discus. They look awesome. Are you trying to breed them also?

they look good tien..just need some plants,drift wood and maybe some tatras and it will be perfect

Plant the whole thing and throw in a bunch of neons or cardinals too.

i would eventually like to breed discus, so that's on the back of my mind. right now i want to concentrate on keeping them in good condition.

eventually when i get good enough i'll try the whole planted set up - but only with wild discus... for some reason the domestic strains don't look as natural in a planted set up IMHO. speaking of wilds... i have three coming in tomorrow

well i didn't really give them up in that sense. had a pretty lousy start to the new year and i was in a bad state of heart and mind, so i decided to sell everything.
but after a while i sorted my stuff out and i got back into the hobby again. it's hard to stay away when you've been keeping fish since you were 8
so this time round i decided to get something peaceful like discus. they were a new challenge as i've never kept them before and i wanted to keep stuff that wouldn't chase each other around and beat on each other all the time like my last fish. i had a bunch of pretty aggressive fish last time round and i was kind of over creating dividers, splitting up fights etc. etc.
