Can it be done? I recently saw a discus and vieja argentea setup that looked great! Wanted to see if same could be done with Lyonsi as i think the colors would be great together!

What size tank are you talking about? While Lyonsi is one of the mellower Amphilophus it is an Amphilophus none the less. Discus are pretty docile and like to swim leaserly around grazing off the bottom by blowing a stream of water at the substraite and eating the food as it rises off the bottom. Lyonsi will not make that too easy for them to do unless you're talking about a very large tank. I'm also not a bog fan of mixing SA and CA cichlids but that's my perferance. Water perameters will not be an issue if you're talking about tank raised fish not WC specimens but either way I personnaly think it is a combination better off avoided.
However if you are determined to try it. Put the Discus in the tank first and after they are established for a couple of weeks at least introduce the smallest Lyonsi (1.5") you can find and let them grow up together. I wouldn't try this in anything less than a 125 gallon tank. I would also have a back up plan ready if the Discus are harrassed and can't feed in peace.
