DISCUS WITH ARO?? and CK? novel idea

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I heard it both ways. I've seen pics here of discus and aro that were beautiful but, I also read here not long ago about somebodies jar that took out his prize discus. Personally, my jar is an s.o.b. who won't allow anything in with him but, 1200g is a whole lot more room than my 240g.

talk to bderick. he had a black aro with discus. Not sure about the knife though

It's been done on this board. Personally I wouldn't try it but thats just me and it has been done. IMO just more headaches for the tank owner but it can be done.

^^^^not including the knife

I got a silver aro with my discus and I haven't had any problems! Then again I got the silver aro when it still had it's egg sac so it has lived with the discus it's whole life!!!

hope you are not very attached to the discus. I think they will be an expensive feeder fish for your aro.
Discus and knife ok.
Aro and knife ok.
Discus and aro not so much.
The aro and knife are at different water columns which will not be a problem for those two.
Its a big tank and could work with the discus.
But as the saying goes "when a bear is hungry, the bear will eat"

I kept a 30" silver aro with 3" discus without any problems. As long as the aro is well fed they wont go after discus. I think the large hieght of the discus makes the undesired to eat

Definitely can be done. If the aro play nice then you will have a beautiful setup. Just be ready to separate if you see the discus get stressed.
