hi, i was wondering if i can put discus with a Tig. catfish,, just for now ,, not on a long run ,, i was wondering if they meet the same water perameters and stuff,, like PH or temp.. i know the catfish might eat them or something in the long run i just need to house them together until i get my new tank cycles and things build,, thanks, well from what i heard that catfish need colder water then discus what about other parameters , i need more help then that , thanks all!

it should be totally fine as long as the discus does not fit into the Tig cat.but do keep in mind..catfish are still catfish and they are very much predatory regardless of size.as for water parameters, discuss can survive within a water temparature of 27-30 degrees Celsius while the tig can survive pretty much from 24-28 degrees Celsius.*do take note that water parameters condition still varies for individual fish.hope this helps.cheers

Where I see the potential issue is Discus are slow deliberate feeders and like to graze, feeding over a period of time. They will blow a stream of water at a potential food item so it raises off the bottom. Where after inspection and deciding it's something they want, they will eat it. The catfish may hinder their ability to do that and prevent them from getting enough to eat, stressing them unnecessarily. In addition Tigs are primarily nocturnal and being active at night will add further stress to the discus. In a nut shell, while depending on the size of the tig and the size of the discus the tig may not harm them directly, the presence of the tig IMO will indirectly affect the overall well being of the discus causing a slow deterioration of the discus. The stress will eventually affect their immune system and leave them susceptible to various maladies. This why I don't think housing the two species together even for a short period of time is a good idea.
