i wanted to get a stingray but am going to hold off until i get a bigger tank so i was wondering if discus will be alright with my silver arowana in a 75 gallon tank. i add blackwater extract to the water and the pH is about 6.5.

Depends on the size of the aro, AND, if you plan to keep them apart in the future.
I don't think they would live together in harmony.

Make sure the discus are big. A general rule of aro's is, if it fits in the mouth, it will get eaten.

I have kept both silver and black aros with discus, the only problem is that 8-10" silver will grow 1-2" per month. In as little as 5 mounths you may have a 18-20" silver on your hands.

It might be ok for a little while but once the silver gets big he may have some snacks. Make sure the discus are big.

Being that discus get quite large, it is unlikely that even a large arowana would eat an adult discus.

Skip adding fish, and use that money for a new tank. That 75 won't last you long at all.
