Hello, I'm sure this has been asked before, Sorry if it has but I've had my discus since about Christmas. I have 4 now and will be stocking up to 6, All the discus come out and feed except 1, I'm not too worried about the feeding (Even though he does look a bit skinnier then the rest due to him not feeding himself properly) because If I drop the food outside his hangout or into the hangout which is a big bit of driftwood, He eats it. I've only seen him come out properly once.... All the other times are just when he rapidly swims from one side of the tank to another. I'm certain he would eat if he had the courage to come out. By the way he is the biggest of the lot, He's pushing 4 inches. All the others are about 2-2 and a half inches.

Tank is a 70g which the Discus, 2 Angels and some cory
Medium amount of plants, Lots of hiding spaces and most importantly I feed them Stendker Beef heart mixed with flakes and tetra prima, I feed them 3-4 Times a day and I will be upping that to about 4-5 Times a day.

Thanks

Once you get your group up to 6 or more you might see it's attitude change.

Agreed I made the jump from 3 to 7 and there a huge difference. Is the hider getting picked on? What size discus?

I leave my discus tank mostly open and don't give them the opportunity to hide and the bigger the group the better.. I have 9 and they tend to just go about the whole tank I just have a small piece of driftwood in the center (nothing that would cover them or hide them my LDA33 pleco just likes sitting under it) and a few fake plant scattered threw the tank so this way they are always in the open
When I walk in the room they all always greet me at the top of the tank like dogs lol once you add more they should be more active and you should start to see a change and if you see him eating then there is nothing to worry about if he hides as long as they arnt beating on him and he is eating he is fine nothing to worry about just make sure water parameters stay good and keep up on water changes with good diet and you'll have happy discus !

Alright thanks guys, He actually never gets picked on. As soon as anyone comes near his lair he chases them... This happens most times and the I already said the size of him on the first post. I'll get my stock up to 6, Again thanks
