i was told by the LFS that i have to treat discus every 3 months for worms, regardless.
i forgot the med name but 5ml per 100l.
he sid that it doesnt harm bio filter, or other fish this med, but i HAVE to treat discus for worms as they get it regardless.

is this true?
garlic guard work? soak food in it?
or we can get this meat/bloodworm frozenfood here in NZ with garlic and veges in it. does that work?

advice would be awesome!
im a usually monster fish keeper, not a discus keeper, im relatively new

Myth, You do not need to treat Discus every 3 months for worms. Keep the on a good diet such as NLS Thera A, Omega One Marine Pellets or Hakari Discus Gold you can treat with Brine Shrimp thats all they really need. Of corse stay on top of weekly water changes and all should be fine. Clean, clean, claen water.

it's a myth, but it is good to treat angelfish and discus for worms. I give a mix of beefheart, blood worms, and brine shrimp.

currently im feeding tetra colourbits.
they love it, well probably used toit, but taking it in.
funny how they eat, they tend to chew alot, more so than other cichlids.

but finally eating 3 days after i purchased them approximately anyways.

we hvae this food in NZ, called 'discus tucker'. beefheart, mixed with shrimp, bloodworm, some vegetation and garlic.

I have never had a problem with this....50% water changes every 2-3 days. I feed NLS, flaked, NLS, and freeze dried earthworms from Ken's Fish....never have had problems. Should only medicate when needed....
