Hello, My Gf just bought me 2 discus which i love but what iv'e notice is that they are more active at night then in the morning is that normal?? i have a 55 or 60 g tank the dimensions are 48Lx15Wx17H. Im trying to buy two more discus. i also have 10 tetras and 3 rams . i feed the discus BW i put them in a feeder (its a cone) and feed the other fish a small portions of flakes is that okay?? i wish i can upload a picture but it doesnt let me. .. is there a special way to upload pics??

I think that tank is actually under 55 gallons. Discus do best in groups of 5 and need about 10 gallons per fish other wise they will hide and then fight. So your tank is good for 5 full grown discus. If by BW you mean live or frozen blackworms that is great if you mean bloodworms then not so great. I would get them on a high quality flake like prime reef and or a good pellet like NLS. Discus really like clean water so plan for such.

2 is not good unless they're true/proven pair. They'll need time to settle in your new tank and give them time. also best to feed everything bw, flakes, pellets....so they won't become picky eaters.

you have to have certain number of posts before you can post pic. keep posting here.

Yeah keep there diet varied. Mine will eat anything i feed them and they are ruthless when it comes to little fish like neons they eat those to. Maybe thats just my discus though. Try to add a few more in there so theres more than just two. They like clean water so try to do a few water changes a week. Maybe 45-50% once they get to be adults one or two a week will be good but when they are young you want to keep them healthy and comfy so they dont get stunted

Am interested to hear how yours are doing ; We have a similar set up with 3 Discus ( about 2" - 3" ) in a 200 L tank with a scattering of cardinals and rams
The bigger of the discus dominates the tank and the other 2 shy away ( the tank is heavily planted so there are loads of places to hide ) I am worried about adding more discus as dont want to over stock the tank but at the same time I ralise that 3 is not ideal. Have been looking at tank divide to try and give the smaller ones a chance to settle and fatten up and then reintroducing in stages ( has anyone had any luck with this ) I do understand I am battling nature though so do have a back up plan ( the wife has found a 400 L tank which we will upgrade to if these options dont work and buy a bigger school )
