so far ive posted threads about almost everything but this topic. good thing for me, i've been wanting to breed discus for the longest time. I will soon be setting up a 65 gall with 4 discus. not sure on breeds yet. im hoping that out of these 4 i will get atleast one pair. when i do, im going to be using a 40 gallon breeder for them. what all will i need to get this done? should my lighting be subdued or bright? whats the best pH for breeding conditons? BB or graveled? types of filter? im sure theres things that i've missed so be sure to tell me. thanks for everybodys time!!

I suggest you do a little research of your own on discus. they are a wonderful fish that have certain needs. Alot of info to pull from just a single thread.

To start, I would go with bare bottom tank with very good biofiltration, mechanical filtration is not a high priority since you will be doing 2 50% water changes weekly. With the frequent water changes you can siphon out most all of the debree.

They do best in soft, acidic, warm water. I would start with 6-7 juvinilles in the 65 gallon. You will need to feed them high quality foods 3x daily as juvies.
As far as breeding goes, you'll have to wait about a year for them to mature, so lots of time for research.
