So i wanna get some input from you guys and see what you think. in my group of orinos, i have some that constantly show bright red eyes. at the same time, there are 1 or 2 that show red eyes sometimes, and then the red color goes away, and comes back, and so forth.

then i have 2 that dont show and have never shown any red coloration in the eyes. i understand that this could be due to the variant of the fish, but what about the changing eye colors. could it be due to stress? excited/angry? water parameters? anybody experience the same thing??

Ive noticed that my orino gets the red eyes when he gets angry or is flaring at the others. Then it goes away later.

i have what has been ID'd as a mono, or possibly a orino.........no one has come out definitive.(i need to post up current pics)

anyhow, it has the "fading red eye". seems to reallyu shine red when i decide to give it some feeders. something about the hunt, or the kill i think.......but then again, who knows

many of my cichla were like that.
when i had my tems, only a few showed really deep red eyes most of the time.
and those were usually the dominant ones.
the others had it on and off.
especially when they were showing aggression.
the kelberis i have are the same, most of the time no red or very slight red,and sometimes really deep.

orino's develop theyre hard perminent red eyes @ 7-10inches and is prominintly red unless lighting is off.. any juvinile under the size listed above, will develop & show hints of red in the eyes through aggression & feeding....:)

hope i answered your question;)

thanks for the info folks, so i wasnt tripping! so i guess the red eye color is something that develops with age, like the intensity of the green....
