the BGKs my husband bought arrived with white poo, & both died. the second to die had normal colored poo before death. I treated the tank with prazi+metro.
the heater is glass, so I did bleach/warm water soak.
Is that good enough?

Hello; I have not tried the bleach myself, but have read several posts where that was discussed as being ok. I may try this some day.
I have made a pasted from table salt (without iodine) for many years. I use this paste to scrub a tank inside and out. the salt paste does not scratch the glass. I then allow the paste to dry to a haze. My thinking has been that this should dessicate a lot of organisms. A good rinse washes out the paste and the tank is clean as weel as perhaps disinfected. I have done this for decades.

thanks, that is good to know.
There are also things that can't be scrubbed; inside the siphon hose, bubblers etc.
thought I better double-check about IPs, since I'm not experienced with them.

Hello; Good point.

I also have a terrible aversion to the very thought of IPs, thanks to that show "Monsters Inside Me"...... so all I did from the moment I opened the bag of BGKs, was keep washing my hands & arms.

Good to know some light bleach and thorough rinse will work - I have had some friends say bleach should never be used if I am going to put fish back into the aquarium
