How can I properly disinfect my fish tank after an internal parasites outbreak (I believe Hexamita was the culprit aka Malawi Bloat). The disease is on its 3rd batch of fish so its apparently very established in the tank some how.
I am aware that I will probably lose my current bio cycle and have to start over. I am ok with that I just want rid my tank of whatever it is that keeps killing any cichlid I put in the tank.
Does anyone know of a way to kill all bacteria in the tank good/bad? I know bleach is a big one but is there another way? I'd have to sanitize my filter and all I assume so I'm not comfortable with the whole bleach thing.
I've searched and searched online and have yet to find anything on how to get rid of such an infection that keeps reoccurring.
Water conditions have been pristine which leads me to believe it is a bug that has evolved into a super bug because not even Clout did anything for my fish or tank.
Thanks in advance for your help.
