Disney World Giant Ornate

Well just back from taking the family down to Disney World. I found a nice suprise at Disney's Animal Kingdom. In their Africa section they have a huge tank filled with african cichlids...Ho Hum as that does nothing for me, however my son pointed out to me that the tank had more than first met the eye. Lo and behold there were 3 ornate bichers. one around a foot, one at about 18" and lastly a grizzeled old ornate that was around 2 foot and as thick as a baseball bat......Very nice... I tried to get some decent photos however it was difficult with the glare of the sun.
BTW they had a 4 foot lungfish in there as well,

Here are some pics, sorry if the resizing is a problem. I just loaded the Kodak easy share software, and it is a little diff than what I was using.

The first is of the big ornate. The second is of the african lungfish, bad picture but you can clearly see the massive size above the kids heads.

In the lungfish picture, you cannot tell from the glare, but the tail extends all the way to the left past my daughters head, the head all the way to the right . It was huge, the girth on it made it resemble a seal.

thats a nice bichir and the lungfish is BEAST!!!!!! i never pay any attention to lungs so i dont know how big they get but thats HUGE!!!!
