Hi guys

I currently have 3 Jaguar in 2 different setups

1. A breeding pair which is about 4.5" (they rule the tank, but also share their space with a Bumblebee Catfish and a male convict)

2. A lone male about 9" (very mean at that)

I am in a midst of a tank reduction spree and was just wondering if it would be possible to move all these 3 jags to a single large setup.

Thanks

I would say no. Might i ask what size tank do u propose?? I'm thinking how is the convict still alive for one. Next either the pair of jags will kill it and the convict or the bigger jag withh kill all the other fish in the tank

I wouldn't do it without a divider, actually I wouldn't do it if you have to reduce tanks reduce the fish population also. As previously mentioned the pr. if well bonded will kill the larger male if not the larger male will kill the smaller male eat the convict, unless it is 5 or 6 in. then it will just be killed. this is said because a fish kept solo for so long will not tolerate tankmates unless it is added to a space at least 3 times the size of its' original space (even then with the possibilty of fighting will be there) to try to difuse the fury. Managuense are piscavors so weaker fish are automaticaly considered prey. However I once had a pr. of dempseys 6in male 4 1/2 female kill a 12 in cintrinellum when they decided to spawn in a 55 the 3 shared for awhile ,this was in the early 90s when 55s & 75s were the "big tanks". They also beat up a 10 in oscar & a 6 in. Black Rhomb. on different occassions. Thier bond was a strong one.

nice man get them things goin..jags are really nice looking fish

Yeah, I love jags as well. I currently have 3 pairs and all spawn quite frequently.:headbang2
