Hi i just want to share that i currently have had a D. Sexfaciatus for about 8 months now and i Love her. Don't really know the sex but i just assume that it's a her. I got her when she was 8" and now she is 12". She is a very friendly species and gets along fine with every other tank mate. She will adapt to any water peremeters and is not a picky eater.
Just wondering how many people on MFK keep D. Sexfaciatus and how you feel about this species. Post some pics! :D

There great looking fish! Got any pics? That would be cool!

I used to have one!!!! Great fish! I got it at like an inch and a half and it outgrew my tank real quick and i had to put it in a display tank at the fish store I worked at the time. It was like 10 inches the last time i saw it, but that was a long time ago. And it got ugly.

First off, wrong forum. Distichodus is a african characin, not a african cichlid. They get big and lose their color as they age. I have a D.lussuso who is a bit of a fin nipper. As far as pics, my Distichodus is the January POTM :naughty:

I really like D. Sexfaciatus and have kept them for several years. I have 2 in my 15k. They might be in the pictures in the article section or the gallery link. They are 16 & 17". They have of course lost their beautiful juvenile colour.

enjoy yours

I had no idea that they lost their color. Thanks for the info, I won't be getting one.
