If I distill tank water coming out of my aquarium, will it remove nitrates? Im thinking if i drain water out and then pass it through a solar distiller (I live in the desert) it will evaporate and then condense on the collection end. Will this water be nitrate free leaving nitrates behind in the collection resevoir? Im hoping this is a way I can reuse my water and set this up into a drip/overflow system.

Yes or you could use a Reverse Osmosis unit to remove NO3. Distilled water (pure water) is very unstable though so you would need to add back some buffers.

Sounds like a plan. Im thinking I can drain water to a container outside, since I like in the desert I can use the sun to evaporate and then recondense. Then I'll run it through a filter with some buffering materials to get my parameters set. Ofcourse I have to move first, but I'll keep you posted!
