Have a pair of JD's I've wanted to breed they seemed to be pairing up nicely so I found a nice flat rock for them to lay eggs on. So I start rearranging the tank to make room for the new rock. When I grab one of the rounder rocks that had been in the tank it felt kind of slimy in my hand upon further inspection I found it was covered in tannish colored eggs so I immediately put it back and let everything be. Hoping I didnt mess anything up. Will they continue to tend the eggs??? I have no idea how long they may have been there. The female is hanging aroound the eggs still the male is hiding out as he doesn't like commotion of any kind.

I did this with my Flowerhorns i used to have, they ate them straight after :(

If this is their first spawn, I expect they will eat them anyways. That's happened with all of my breeding pairs thus far. It took 4 spawns for my Cyano and BP to get it right. It's very possible that she will continue to watch them, but don't be surprised if they're gone.

I'd say it could go either way. It all depends on her. I've messed with the eggs before and have had the parents act like nothing ever happened as soon as the eggs were returned however, I never actually touched any of the eggs, only the rock they were on. Good luck either way. Even if they do end up cleaning house I don't think it will take them long to produce again.
