I have a pair of Rotkiel severum in a 120 gallon tank, they are currently on their own, just waiting for them to lay eggs.
what would be a good dither fish to lessen their aggression towards each other?
i added a 2 inch datnoid, but i think ui'll have to remove it when the pair lays eggs, since its too efficient a hunter.
will a pair of honduran red points be better dither fish?
any suggestions?

Are the fish currently being aggressive to one another? If so, are you sure they're a mated pair (they've spawned multiple times before)? I wouldn't isolate them just because they're a male and female. If they aren't ready to spawn, you have the potential for one of the fish to get hurt or killed. My experience is that dithers won't stop an aggressive male from seeking out and beating up a female.

You could add some large, fast-moving tetras or some other moderately peaceful cichlids. I keep mine with Laetacara, angelfish, and small Geophagus species.

thanks, Yup this pair spawned a few times before, but i always lost the fires since they're with my arowana, and when the aro grew bigger they stopped spawing since he was the king. i moved them into a smaller tank.
they seem to be ignoring the small datnoid, they keep on liplocking , but thats the only aggression i've seen between them, but they end up with some injuries to their lips :d

the dat prolly wont break up any aggression. i'd try a small group of festivus. mine really seem to break up aggression between most of my other cichlids

I think silver dollars are a good dither.
