Dither Fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Definately change lighting to dim, and I am pretty sure your indos will swim around more. Also feed every other day and the indos WILL swim around more.

If u do the above and still want to get dithers (as I presume u want dithers to encourage your indos to swim around more) then try;
Silver dollar, TF barb, myleus, red hooks, archer fish.

Good luck.

Don't get TF barbs.Assuming you mean "tin foil" barbs. They are NOT a dither. They get up to 14" or larger.
Silver dollars

Sorry mate but the fish you have mentioned your tank is to small
I know a lot of people get a 6 ft tank and think yes I have a massive tank now they have room for some massive fish but that's not the case before I go on don't take this the wrong way but your tank Is to small

You have 2 black aros a 6 ft is to small for 1
You say you have a big Leo it cant be that big or it would to big for the tank now
You say you have a large tig 26 inch is large you dont state any sizes of any of your large fish I would says many of them have been stunted due to the lack of space

13 tigers is way to many I have never been able to work out why people buy buy buy with tiger fish and why they don't just wait for a few real nice ones to come along

With all the great fish you have mentioned it would be nice to see so picture of your tank

And take any advice about archer fish they would look so wrong in your tank and the tank space could be used more wisely

Post soe pics please

:iagree:

I like archer fish.

T1 ****** hates them.

Fish junky, u are right TF will get too big, but u can still have big dither fish right?

I don't agree with this feeding every other day

Tigers have a MASSIVE apetight and can eat what ever you throw in how do you think they get so big it's not from eating every other day that's

I have seen my big tiger eat 100 x massivore pellets and still want more then he would want the same the next day

By feeding every other day is starving them

Which is another mark for stable meaning unhappy

No no no ... Richard....

I advised to feed every other day if u want to see your tigers more active.

I fast my fish 1 day a week only. And u know most of my are stable.
I now have substrate and they are still stable so the reflection thing is also not true.

Your ST is overweight .

My ST is the right body weight for a tiger that is getting the right amount of food

In the wild tigers are one of the top pred fish and would eat far more than you me or anyone else is feeding

How do you think they can get to 24inch + in the wild if they don't eat

After seeing my ST I would say that they may even reach 30 inch in the wild when they have the chance to eat as much as they can

Are you telling me you feed all your tigers as much as they can eat everyday as that's what they would be doing in the wild

We all talk about slow growth rate of tigers I don't think that's the case I think the slow growth rate we see is down to us not feeding them the right amount and small tank conditions

Ade the IT I now have that was yours was about 7 inch when I got it less than one year ago since that time it has been kept in a big amount of water and fed a lot of food and now it's close to 13 inch in about 10 months it has doubled in size you have to admit that you are shocked at the growth rate from when it was in your tank

If I gave my tigers a starve day they do go more stable so if I was not feeding them the right amount of food they may all be stable all of the time

Tigers maybe stable when they are hungry and looking for food then go unstable to blend into the background when they are full and digesting food

To many what if this or that's with making tigers stable the truth is no one knows so no point stressing our self trying to get them stable just enjoy them stable or not

I was very shocked when I saw how big my old tiger was after such a short space of time in your tank.....and the thinbar which Andy had from me suddenly had growth spurt in his tank, and no doubt it is growing very quick in yourtank too.
I agree though... given optimum conditions, 500g plus and plenty of high q food, they are fast growers. In comparison , I have had an indo from 1.5 inch grow to 13 inch in 5 years. Your ST is what 7-8 years old , yet 2 foot long...
Youve done well to have such a setup providing such optimum
Conditions for tropical fish.
Do u feed your ST 100 massivore each day?
