So I have a 30g grow out with a 2" dovi an 2 festae one is slightly larger but Both are smaller than the dovi. The dovi does not tear them up or overly harass them just at feeding time. I put extra food in but when ever they go to eat he will chase them off I contribute the food over the hole tank but the wolf is a quick little so an so. Would there be a good dither to have with them now to stop this.

Keep in mind most dithers could get much of the food your trying to feed the cichlids.you could try some sinking pellets, but maybe best to divide the tank, easy to make one

Ye I could do but if I were to do that if I ever wanted to introuduce them back together in the future it would probably end up with a dead fish. Obviously if it gets to out of hand I could seperate them either divide the tank or put him in with my unknown amph.

Get a larger tank, that will help.

adding dithers is just going to mask the problem and not solve it, having those fish in a thirty gallon tank is a recipe for disaster so to speak.
if you are trying to grow out your fish relatively fast keep this in mind

no matter how hard you try, the dovii will grow one hell of a lot faster than any festae, and will be a lot more agressive to.
festae's are notorious for their painfully slow growth rate, and dovii are known for their extremely fast one!

here are my tips to get a good growth rate

1. feed a range of staple pellets, occasionally supplemented with fresh or frozen foods (NO FEEDER FISH!)
2. whenever you can do a water chance/ gravel vac DO IT. changing your water often will improve the water quality hence better for the fish
3. expose the fish to as less stress possible (this will be near impossible for you, as the dovii is the source of stress to both of the festae)

ultimately this is my recommendation

choose ONE fish from your current three and keep that one, this way you do not wake up one day to find out that one of your beloved festae has become dovii chow!

Thanks for the advice pal got a few other tanks I could use I change water once a week I only have a thin layer of gravel so is easy to clean. What's growth rate on a wolf 1" a month or less, and any ideas on a festae.
