Dither help

If they're gonna be small to start out with then just about anything non predator. Do you want dithers for the long term?

Med-Lg Silver Dollars, Tinfoil Barbs, Bala Shark, anything that can't get eaten and probably won't as your guys grow.

I don't know if even the large tinfoil barbs can survive any of those 2 fishes specially the dovii which has teeth but they say tinfoils are bullet-proof. However, stress will still take a toll if the tank isn't large enough. Spread the aggression through a little larger tinfoils like over half the size of either the jag or the dovii. Make sure you get plenty. Size, speed, numbers and the scales help them cope. I got six for my nearly 15" Indo which terrorizes silver fish and they seem to be ignored at the moment so my test is not proven yet.

My vote would be for Red Hook Silver Dollars (Myleus Rubripinnis). They get larger than standard Silver Dollars, have a slightly more aggressive temperament, and a school of 6 or more looks great!!! The only downside is that they can be harder to find than standard Silver Dollars.

Danios and Barbs are good dithers, just not the ones you chose. Zebra Danios and Tiger Barbs will always be feeders for big Cichlids, not dithers. Giant Danios and Tinfoil Barbs are the way to go. Both are big, quick, shiny, agile, schooling fish.
