I can't begin to describe how excited I was to find a datnoid in a LFS last weekend - - the first I've seen in Chicago's west suburbs in 10 years. He's not very big, maybe three inches, but I paid the $30 and have him in a 30g to grow before he goes into my 200g. He's really laying low so far. His tank mates are a 3" clown loach, a very small polypterus (about the size of a golf pencil) and a 8" pleco. So. none of his new buddies spend much time swimming around. Would the dat be more active (and maybe start eating!!!) if I added dithers? If so, any suggestions on species and size?

Thanks.

I use rainbow fish as dithers.

giant danios would work also...

petsmart??? quarnt. those fish!!!!

What kind of dat is he and where did you get him? I've seen silvers at Scotts.

Oh yeah, I keep different silver dollars with my dats. They might outcompete him for food though if the dat is much smaller.
