As the title suggests, I'm looking to throw in some dithers to add some color/movement. My male Syn is currently in a 90G to himself. The only other inhabitants are two BN Plecos. Here are some current ideas (Looking to choose one species). Please share thoughts and/or suggestions.

Roseline Barbs
Turquoise Rainbows
Giant Danios
Australian Rainbows
Tiger Barbs (large)
Others?

Thanks!

Depends on the aggression of the particular Syn. My male was pretty feisty and he held his own with a Jag, and a large Black Belt and a couple amphilophus species, but my female, at 10" was normally in a tank with a group of 9 clown loaches. Danios would be pretty cool though.

Turquoise Rainbow fish! Their color will really compliment each other. I have one (leftover from a different tank) with my Syn pair. Or you could a different route and do either large Swordtails or a group of smaller cichlids, like Rainbow cichlids, Cryptoheros, Thorichthys... all these are from CA too.

i think rainbows would look really cool in there. they would bring some more color already in there. but i think giant danios will do the job as long as he isnt a complete terror.

this thread needs pictures of your syn.

As previously stated, depends on how aggressive your Synspilum is. I tried 8 Giant Danios once in a 125g with my male jag that was around 7-8" at the time. Not sure if Giant Danios normally stay at the upper levels of the tank but the ones i got did, which made for extremely easy ambush attacks from my Jag. 7 of them were toast that same day, 1 made it to the next day until he became dinner. If your fish likes to hunt, I'd look elsewhere. If not, it could work.

Thanks guys. I think I'll try the Giant Danios first to make sure he tolerates them (I know they're pretty cheap and readily available).
