I am looking for some dither ideas for my 125 with two super red severum (one 4" and one 3.5"), six small 3" geophagus red heads and four 3.5" festivum.

I am thinking 12 lemon tetras or 6-8 giant danios. Let me know some numbers that won't overload the tank and any other dither recommendations you've got.

Rainbow fish are colorful and fast, 8 or more

Almost any of the larger Tetra species will work. Lemons are nice I'm using about 25 Serpae Tetras in my 225 SA. In a SA tank I like to keep only SAs I don't like to mix continents. The SRS is a hybrid so I guess it's not that important in this case. I'm not saying that to be a wise guy either, I just mean it's not like a biotope specific to a river or country. So have fun with it and use whatever appeals to you.

I'm partial to congo tetras. Not SA (neither are rainbowfish or danios), but look like they could be. Peaceful and showy as adults, school nicely in groups of at least 5-6, Severums don't bother them ime, and ime they're not fin nippers that would bother the fin extensions of fish like geos.

I use Australian Rainbows. They are $2 at petsmart and they have decent colors as adults. They are also very fast.

+1 and I always suggest them for these dither threads cuz I have em but best looking tetra in my opinion. I have six in my CA community.

You've got the start of a good SA tank so I'd stick with the lemons. They look really nice if you keep up w/ your water quality. However, if mixing locations doesn't bother you, Congos are easily the best looking tetra IMO. Try to get all males if you can, they get the long fin extensions, females not so much.
