A thought just crossed my mind...Obviously a tank can be divided by a vertical divider...has anyone tried to divide a tank horizontally? For example, is it possibly to keep my TSN (12") on the bottom half of the tank and use the top for my 4" Orinos (so they don't end up a snack)?
If you have done it, what did you use to accomplish the task? Can anyone think of reasons not to divide a tank this way?

I once did this with a stingray and small pbass. I just cut a piece of 1/8 acrylic and drilled hundreds of holes and held it with the normal divider clips w/ suction cups. I'm sure there are much easier ways along the line of an egg crate shape.

it would be a bit** to clean but it would be cool. look up "Making a False bottom" on google. its normaly for repts and Amphs to raise the ground and substraight up off the bottom glass so the substraight can drain the water to pervent from getting soggy but you should be able to make it work the same way.

Just make a box out of lighting diffuser. I wouldn't fully divide the tank, I think it would stress the fish below not being able to get to the surface.

Valid point! I think I'm just going to wait until they put on another inch or two. I'm just being impatient, but I don't want to end up with a TSN with a belly full of Pbass!! LOL

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if the pbass are smaller than the tsn right now then they will probably always be at risk.
