ok, here's the story. Eric offered me a great deal on an L-Bracket so i went for it. i got a notice in the mail yesterday saying it was to be picked up at the post office @ 6am. this morning, i go to the post office @ 6. since i was there i brought along an item i needed to ship out. i picked up the bracket, and asked what time the mail room was open. 8 o'clock. bummer. so what do i do, i go to my car, install the L-bracket on my camera and drive off. so now, i'm feeling like i'd like to give this bracket a try so i find the nearest parking place and park my car. i open the camera bag, dismount my 70-200 - and stick on the 18-70. i walk across the street and take several shots in portrait and in landscape orientation on my tripod. then it starts pouring rain all over me. i dismount my camera from the pod and i sling the strap over my shoulder like i always do... grabbed the tripod and off i went. i took about 3 steps and WHAM! my camera falls to the ground, lens cap goes flying and the lcd protecter pops off. GRRRR! so i think dang what horrible luck, first rain and then this. i look down and one end of my camera strap was off. i grab my stuff and run to the car. i get in the car check everything out, everything works perfect. that's when i start to analyze the events that just took place. i look down at the L-Bracket and around the camera... the L-bracket was the first thing that hit the ground judging by the fresh concrete dust and knicks. wow, the L-bracket saved my camera. then i started thinking. i almost ALWAYS use my 70-200 and i ALWAYS sling the strap over my shoulder. if it weren't for the L-Bracket, i would have never stopped to take some shots, and it's very likely that the 70-200 would have been mounted to my camera when the strap came loose. That thing is like 3 lbs and would almost certainly had some nice chunks missing from it. so, thanks Eric for the sweet deal. the moral of the story is, everyone buy some parts from Eric, because he is good luck. hehe.
