Hello guys! I decided to submerge myself in the world of angel fish because discus are too expensive for this college kid :irked:! So I picked up an adorable koi angel and I have it in my old 35g piranha tank (the toothy darlings are now in their new 55g home) How often should I do water changes? I know these guys are from the amazon so I'm gonna guess they like the same temp range as my red bellies (high 70's low 80's)? Is this tank good for this guy for life, and how big will he get? I don't remember the exact dimensions of my tank but it's taller than it is wide, which I'm hoping is good. Could I get him a friend or would that be too many angels for the 35g? I'm wanting to add a few glass cats, would that be ok? Thanks guys any more info would be awesome!!!!

The rule of thumb for Angelfish is 20 gallons for the first Angelfish and aver Angelfish after is 10 more gallons. So you could put 2 Adult Angelfish in that tank very confortly.

I have my Angelfish Tanks at 78ºF. Angelfish tend to get around 8-10 inches tall and about 6 inches long. They like plants that reach from top to the bottom of the tank and slow currents. You could put some glass catfish I think. I've never tried them.

imo, a single angel needs much more than 20 gallons, I'd say about twice that would be a lot more reasonable, and they can get bigger than 8-10" in height, more like 10-13 inches and 6-8 inches long, though it does take them a while to reach that size (normally 5-7 years) so they would be fine for a few years in a 20g but I wouldn't keep one in a 20g once it is past 8".

Your right.^ 20 gallons is to small for a minimum tank size.
