Hi all,
I am new to this site and fish keeping.
I need some advice as I am planning to make a 150g tank.
It would be a glass tank with dimensions of 5'x2'x2'.
The glass I will be using would be 13mm wide.
I am building this tank to house my Jardini.
Now from previous threads i have got a feeling that i should be using the Dow 732 sealant and 1200 primer.
Also what kind of filter should i make.
Please give me links if possible.
Any other advice you guys would like to give me is welcomed.
Thank you.

Hi,

Sorry, cant help on the sealant but the Fluval FX5 seems a pretty popular choice filter wise with others on this site, its rated to 400g so would be more than adequate on a 150g ;-) Personaly i use a Tetratec EX1200 on a 105g and cant fault it, they do a larger version (EX2400) that is exactly the same design just bigger that would be suitable for an 150g

Also if its any help many tanks 2ft high are made from 10mm glass, our 8x2x2 is for example - not sure what the cost of glass is like your way but if you can live with the lower but still acceptable safety factor it might work our much cheaper.

Cheers
T.J

I you want a DIY filter go with a Wet dry. Inexpensive to make and great filtration but can be difficult to figure out how to work it. But if you want low maintenance go with a fx5 or two or a few aquaclears

I am using the dow corning 732 silicone tube
the glass size is 12 mm
4.5'x2'x2'
the thing is the glass is very heavy so if i apply the silicone will the weight of the glass cause the silicone to be squeezed out I mean will the weight cause the silicone to be pressured out before sticking the glass
how can it be resolved???
