DIY 240G stand plans

What do you all think...will it be able to support the weight? This is how I built my 75G stand and it seems very stout.

You will need support under the 8' span. At least one 2x4 in the center on the front and back.

I was hoping the 2x8 would be strong enough, and according to calculations it should support the weight since they are 12" on center. I agree though I would rather have overkill protection. I may add some extra 2x8 about 3.5 ft in so that I will have 2 spans (1 @4.5ft the other 3.5ft) I need room to get the 4ft sump out.

There really isn't a need for 2x8s. YOu could go with 2x4s and have plenty of strength.

You should be OK with the support a little off center.
