This is the outside housing, believe it or not, the top half was made out of a vent you would put ontop of a house to vent the attic, then the bottom half is a piece of aluminum I bent to make the base. I may changing the the way its hanging. I made that hanger for another light, then changed my plans halfway thru. The housing is 17 1/2 x 14 1/2 wide.. Took some time to bend all the metal just right, but got it how I like it. Nice edges. Since its on a cube 30x30 tank, I wanted a light that matches the tank in shape.

This is inside the light. There are four 10" LED lights (9 LED's in each strip) and a 250w 20k MH. This picture only the LED's are on (half power). I had them made and they are all wired together, so only one plug needed with a built in dimmer..

This is a pic of the 20k 250w light just turning on, so its still warming up. The LED's are on also as you can see..
And the way I designed the light, there are no cooling fans needed. If you look at the first pic, you can see all the air vents on the top half of it. This lets all the heat escape without needing a fan. I can have the light on for hours.. touch the top and there is no heat build up. Worked out great..Only thing i may want to do now is redesign the hanging brackets. Like I said, I had another light in mind when that was put up, then decided to build my own light and it works for now, but I may take it down and bring the bars in closer to the retro fit light so the hangers dont show as much.
Light is working well. Its brought alot of color to my corals. The 20K MH brings in some blue and the blue LED's act as more blue to help bring the color out as well as when dimmed act as a good moon light at night.
Here is a you tube video of the tank (video taken about a month ago, some more zoas have been added as well as a large 7 head frogspawn. The zoa's in this video are not fully out, so you dont get that affect, but you get the idea of what the tank looks like and the great job the light is doing with growth and lighting.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6oZPLHn0jg
