diy 3/4 overflow pipe

ok guys what can i put on the top of my overflow pipe so my small fishes cant be sucked down into them,wake up this morning an one of my damsel was in the sump an also my snails are crawling up the pipe

Look at a stockman pipe. Kinda acts like a weir. If you drill small enough holes, your fish can't get in.

Google gurgle buster overflow you can build your own out if pvc and it will actually quiet down the overflow as well

They make intake screens, look at aquatic eco, they work fine.
