DIY Aquaclear Surface Skimmer

i'm trying to design and build a diy surface skimmer to use on aquaclear hob filters. i've found a few helpful threads on a few different forums, none with photos. Has anyone attempted/completed such a project. if so, do you mind posting a few photos, or pointing me in a direction where i might find some?

I use the fluval surface skimmer and it works great, not sure if you could use they way this works and adapt it to your filter http://www.aquaria.com.au/catalog/images/fluval_surface.gif
