ok so i've all ready planned out the size and what not. lately i've been trying to do some research on plexiglass because a friend of mine said its the same as acrylic but stronger? so whats your take on it????

plexi is simply a brand name, the casting is more along the lines of the strength, cell cast is what you are looking for

Yep. You want cell cast acrylic sheets.

if you have a local glass shop they usually can get it, but make sure you ask ahead of time how they sell it, and how much they charge for cuts. from my experience i was better off getting it locally. also check if they have weldon there also, its what you will use to "glue" aka melt the acrylic together, i used #3 but i hear #4 is better if you can find it, then i used #16 to run down the corners for strength and to make sure my joints were good.

Just search online for local plastics suppliers. There should be plenty around. Make sure to check a few different sources to make sure you get the best price.
