premade lids for 55s are cheap i got mine for 24.50 or 22.50. youll spend more in glass then just buying them.

yea i think im jus gonna do that
whered you get yurs at

It's important to measure the top frame so you get the proper lids. A Perfecto/Marineland glass canopy will NOT fit an All Glass/Aqueon tank.

Look around for old sheets of acrylic and cut to size. They might warp a little, but it's nice to really have a good seal. I've also used glass shelving that fits but leaves a slot along one side of the rim for a HOB on the short edge. Then I just lay a small piece of thick glass or a piece of slate over the remaining hole. Cheap, solid, effective.

i did this 3 times all bowed s badly water was getting on my lids. save ourselffrom the mistake i made

Acrylic tops will bow. Solution: flip them over

I'd see what you can find second hand first, then look at your options. There's the plastic tops with "doors", glass tops, or just cutting acrylic. It really depends on if you want what's cheapest or what looks best, I normally go for the cheapest

i made my from glass from the local hardware store and i bought the plastics for the hinches and the clear one that goes in the back it all cost me about 35 dollars bt it was for my 140 gallon

Most glass shops will cut glass at no cost if you buy it there. I had enough glass cut to cover three 75's for $40 at a local hardware store. The glass was also 1/8". Found something laying around that looked like a good handle and super glued it on and haven't had anymore problems.
