Hi,

I want to build a DIY aquarium light for a 90 gallon tank, strong enough to grow a nice hair grass carpet. Does anyone know of any references online / good ideas on how to do that? I can do the research myself, but if someone else already has I'm happy to use their info!

Cheers!
C4.

Shop lights could work, though you’ll have to find the right bulbs for the plant growth your looking for. Flood lights can also work. You could get powerful LED strips, some wood, and a reflective tape or foil and you could make a diy led light, but that could be costly and may not be as efficient as a powerful plant light. The finnex fugeray planted+ on Amazon used to be a nice price(70-90$), but seemed to go up unless you could find one on sale, not diy, but powerful for the price.

MD fish tanks used flood lights for some of his tanks, and I seen some high tech tanks using shop lights.
