Alright. So I had a friend, Aiden, recommend me some DIY food thats worked really really well for him.
I'm never listening to Aiden again.
Unfortunately he's kinda qualified so I believed him. He breeds discus, shows them, etc.
Heres whats up.
I just DESTROYED my kitchen aid mixer making this stuff and my fish essentially gave me the middle fin and looked at me like I was stupid. It then promptly melted and got all yucky on my beautiful black clean substrate.
I'm not sure what the issue was. If it was too frozen, or what. You know like when bloodworm cubes melt the worms are still there and big enough for the fish to see? this stuff mostly just turns to mush, but it does come off in little chunks. I know they can see it because they'll eat it and just spit it back out. I think it was too big and frozen for the arowana. I didn't cut it up, its only the size of a blood worm cube (reused tray) but she's only about 5 inches. The gourami wouldn't even eat it. They're the trash cans of my tank.
DISCLAIMERS-
1)discus and arowana are kept in separate tanks.
2)The arowana is about 5 inches MAX right now. She's in a 125 tank. With only four silver dollars (still small) and some corys. Im well aware how big of a tank she's going to need, and i'm prepared to purchase that for her. Please don't eat me alive. I did my research before I bought the fish.
I didn't do my research before I listened to Aiden.
3) Ive only tried to feed this food once. Aiden says to fast them for a couple days until they eat it. Im not sure if i wanna listen to Aiden lol
heres the disgusting recipe-
1 Fillet Fresh Salmon
1 pack of seaweed
1 pack of fish eggs
1 pack of krill
15 fresh shrimp (like people edible grade shrimp. she's a princess)
1 box of-
Mysis Shrimp
brine shrimp
blood worms
rotifers
and cyclops.
add some gelatin so it floats, just one envelope, and a tbsp of garlic powder.
Makes about 2.5 gallons of food. put in ice cube trays or like the plastic trays that come from blood worms. Freeze, watch fish not eat it, ENJOY!
What did i do wrong and how do i get them to eat it. I have 2.5 gallons of frozen fish guts in my freezer next to my popsicles and hot pockets. I HATE eating/smelling fish so this is stressing me out. pls send help.
